Scientific Diving Course

A scientific diving course, taught by our oceanographers, designed to teach you how to plan and conduct scientific sampling.

Are you currently studying—or planning to study—a science-related degree and want to learn how to collect samples underwater? Are you already an experienced diver looking for training to participate in citizen science sampling projects?

This scientific diving course consists of 10 hours of theory (part of which will be conducted online via Zoom) and 4 dives.

Minimum age

Divers with a minimum of 15 dives, whose last dive was no more than 1 month ago

Minimum group

2 people – Ask if we already have a group formed!

Course objectives

  • Learn sampling techniques for marine phanerogams, coastal invertebrates, and fish.
  • Improve neutral buoyancy to minimize environmental impact during dives.
  • Train responsible divers who are committed to the marine environment and marine life.
  • Learn how to participate in citizen science during our dives.
