Learning to be sustainable

The Catalan Sailing Federation promotes sailing activities among all its members with a special focus on youngsters and teenagers. 

Learning to be sustainable is an initiative within their Sustainable Sailing (sostenible.vela.cat) programme aimed at over 70 sailing schools in Catalonia. 

Within the project we drew up a Manual of Good Practice for sailors, explaining the environmental problems of the Mediterranean Sea and a range of actions that sailing schools can take. We presented the Manual in several Technical Workshops and it is also on the website for anyone to consult. 

We also designed workshops and activities to promote sustainable practices for sailing schools to use within their training courses. Blue cases with the materials necessary for these workshops were distributed to any schools who requested them.
